California blazed the trail for this kinky law back in 2019, making it illegal for employers or schools to discriminate based on hairstyle and hair texture. Just days ago, the United States House of Representatives passed the CROWN Act to create a respectful and open workplace for natural hair nationwide. The Crown Act or H.R. 2116 was introduced by Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, D-N.J and passed in a vote of 235-189 along party lines. The bill will soon make its way through the senate and then to President Biden to be signed into law.
