Salamondra Robinson, mother of the late Shanquella Robinson spoke to The Independent about the FBI’s lack of progress on her daughter’s case.

Salamondra Robinson, the mother of Shanquella Robinson, is frustrated with the FBI’s alleged lack of effort on her daughter’s case. On Thursday (December 1), Salamondra spoke to UK publication The Independent about her daughter’s murder in Mexico’s Puerto Los Cabos On October 29.

Salamondra said that one day after her daughter left their hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina on October 28 with a group of six people, the Robinsons were first informed that Shanquella had gotten sick from “alcohol poisoning.” Later, Salamondra spoke with a woman who confirmed Shanquella’s death and later received an autopsy report detailing that her daughter had suffered from a broken neck and severe spinal cord injury.

“I couldn’t confront them really, because they were gone,” Salamondra told The Independent about the group that traveled with Shanquella. “I did talk to police. I didn’t talk to the other ones [again] because I didn’t see them anymore. They came [to our home] before the autopsy came.”

Although the traveling party returned to the United States, shortly after, videos circulated of Shanquella being brutally attacked by one of the women in the group at their vacation rental property. Five days after Shanquella’s funeral on November 19, prosecutors said that her death was the result of a “direct attack,” not an accident. Earlier this week, reports circulated that one member from the travel group, Daejhanae Jackson, has been arrested and faces extradition in Mexico. Mexican authorities have said that an investigation for Shanquella’s death is ongoing.

“I’m just trying to wait for somebody to be arrested. The FBI is not telling anything,” Salamondra explained.

Before her interview with The Independent, Salamondra thanked Black social media users for bringing Shanquella’s death to surface.

“I never thought she wouldn’t get justice because we were going to try to go all the way,” Salamondra told NBC News. “But I appreciate everything that everybody’s done, however you’ve played a part in it.”
