After news began to circulate that 1017 Global Music artist Big Scarr passed, Gucci Mane mourned the 22-year-old’s death on Instagram.

Gucci Mane mourned the loss of rapper Big Scarr, who was signed to Mane’s 1017 Global Music, confirming that the Memphis artist had died. “This hurts,” Gucci Mane posted on Instagram on Thursday night (December 22). “I’m a miss you.” TMZ has reported that ongoing investigation into Scarr’s death has underwent, but there are no signs of foul play.

Big Scarr, whose legal name was Alexander Woods, got his rap moniker from a car accident he suffered at 16-years-old. At 19, the Memphis-raised artist released introductory hit “Make A Play” which racked over 50,000 views on YouTube and ultimately landed him a deal on Gucci Mane’s 1017 record label the following year. During his time on the label, Woods collaborated with fellow 1017 acts Pooh Shiesty and Foogiano on several tracks.

In 2021, Woods released his debut and final mixtape Big Grim Reaper that featured tracks “SolcyBoyz 2” and “Poppin,” followed by a deluxe edition in 2022. That same year, Woods made the XXL Freshman Class along with fellow Memphis rapper Big30.

“If you ask me, it’s been my time, but I ain’t rushing. I ain’t forcing nothing. I’m in my own lane. I feel like whatever comes my way is a blessing,” Woods said in the XXL feature.

Woods was set to embark on the 31-date Glockoma Tour with Key Glock in the spring, with dates in Cleveland, Louisville, Chicago, Houston and more.

Big Scarr has reportedly passed away. He just wrapped up a major year & was preparing to tour with Key Glock and perform at Rolling Loud LA next year. The worst part is that he died right before the holidays.
