“With this trio of renewals, we celebrate excellence in animation on Fox, our wonderful, longtime partnership with 20th Television and the brilliant creators and incredible voices behind these forever favorites,” said Michael Thorn, President of Scripted Programming for Fox Entertainment, per Deadline. “Three-plus decades of The Simpsons, more than two decades of Family Guy and over a decade of Bob’s Burgers proves the enduring power of the animation genre on our network and the infinite fan affinity for these outrageously funny comedy classics.”
All produced by Disney Television Studios’ 20th Television Animation, the aforementioned series’ are listed as Top 10 comedies for the 2022-23 season. While Family Guy ranks as Fox’s most-streamed program on record, the show recently came under fire for a controversial 2021 reference towards late rapper Nipsey Hussle.
On Tuesday morning (January 24), a Twitter user brought attention to a snippet from Family Guy episode “Young Parent Trap,” which originally aired in April 2021. In one scene, Chris Griffin (Seth Green) tells his father, Peter (Seth MacFarlane), that he’ll be attending a local music festival named ‘Quachella.’
“They’re gonna have holograms of Tupac and also Nipsey Hussle, who I’d never heard of and then was told to care immensely about,” Chris says in the clip.
The post has since gone viral, with fans of Nipsey calling Family Guy out over its dark humor towards the Los Angeles native’s death.
