In an interview with AnOther magazine published on Thursday, Badu was asked 50 straightforward questions, with one of them being: “What’s an album that you wish you’d featured on?”

In response, the singer said, “Andre [3000]’s current album.”

Of course, the Baduizm artist is referring to her former partner’s debut solo album, last year’s New Blue Sun. Despite the divided response the project received — something that Andre himself has spoken about — New Blue Sun has been nominated for Album of the Year at the 2025 Grammys.

Andre and Badu basically teased what a collaborative track on the album could’ve sounded like when he brought her onstage in September during a performance in her home city, Dallas, where she proceeded to play theremin alongside Andre and the rest of his band.

Elsewhere in the interview, she was asked about being referred to as the “Queen of Neo Soul,” which led to an interesting response about both the title and the sub-genre she’s often categorized in.

“I like being recognized but I think ‘Neo Soul’ is a corny name,” Badu said. “I’d call it Queen of Molecular Cellular, Atomic Sound Frequency.”

Last month, the artist teased that she’s working on a new collaborative album during an appearance on The Breakfast Club.
