Chris Brown has been granted a $6.7 million bail today.
On Wednesday (May 21), the Virginia crooner was released from custody after being arrested on May 15 for an alleged 2023 assault and initially denied bond, BBC reports. A £5 million bail (equivalent to $6.7 million) was granted on the condition that Brown pay £4 immediately. The remaining £1 million has to be paid within seven days. Brown must surrender his passport if he is not traveling on his Breezy Bowl XX World Tour, which is slated to begin on June 8 in Amsterdam.
His next court date is June 20, which occurs between tour dates in Cardiff, U.K. and London.
Chris Brown and rapper HoodyBaby have both been arrested and charged with attacking music producer Abe Diaw at Tape nightclub in Mayfair, Central London, in February 2023. Brown was charged with suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. HoodyBaby has been charged with grievous bodily harm with intent.
Diaw claims Brown attacked him without provocation and hit him over the head with a tequila bottle before punching and kicking him. It is unclear what role HoodyBaby played in the alleged attack. Breezy was initially denied bail, which threatened the start date of his tour.
According to U.K. news outlet The Sun, Diaw has also filed a $16 million lawsuit against Brown in connection with the incident.
XXL has reached out to Chris Brown’s team for comment.
Hip-hop came out with a win in some way in these cases.
