It’s that time of the year again. Alums return to their alma mater for a week of nostalgia, food, and fun. However, some students are ecstatic about the festivities, while others are not.

Some of life’s most memorable moments happened in college, and during the season of HBCU homecomings, alums are getting ready to be taken back in time. 

Many artists will be at some HBCUs during homecoming week, giving students a night worth their while.

However, some Spelman and Morehouse College students weren’t happy about their homecoming announcement. 

The two schools stand next to each other and are separated by gender, Morehouse for men and Spelman for women. 

The universities that share the same homecoming (Oct.16-23) recently announced Ne-Yo as this year’s performer, but it wasn’t what some students wanted to hear.

Morehouse and Spelman students may not be too excited about their homecoming this year, but other universities may beg to differ.

Here are four more epic homecomings who scored chart-topping artists as performers: 

Clark Atlanta University (October 9th – 16th)

Not far from Spelman, Clark Atlanta University just celebrated their homecoming with a special performance by G Herbo and Nardo Wick, who recently just made his return to music. Allegedly, Herbo was shot at during the concert, and the suspect was quickly arrested.

Florida A&M University (October 22nd -30th)

FAMU is giving the stage to female rap artists this year. The university has the City Girls and Latto lined up to perform on Oct. 29 at the Lawson Center. This will also be JT’s big return after being locked up in Tallahassee, serving time for credit card fraud before being released in 2019.

North Carolina A&T State University (October 23rd – 30th)

This year, NCAT is bringing some of the hottest artists to its stomping grounds. They have Lil Baby, Chloe Bailey, Nardo Wick, and Memphis’ GloRilla set to perform this year. They will perform for students and alums on October 29.

Howard University (October 15th -23rd)

A Memphis artist is also going to the capitol to give Bison students their homecoming concert. Key Glock will perform at the Howard Theater on October 20.  

According to reports, Beyoncè and Jay-Z have five HBCU schools in mind, with Tiffany & Co. pledging $2 million in scholarship funding at Pennsylvania’s Lincoln University, Virginia’s Norfolk State University, North Carolina’s Bennett College, University of Arkansas and Ohio’s Central State University.
