Prosecutors say Whitehead also extorted $5K from a businessman, and attempted to get him to lend him $500K in exchange for “favorable actions from the New York City government, which Whitehead knew he could obtain.”

According to NBC, Whitehead became internationally known earlier this year when he was robbed of $1M of jewelry during a live-streamed church service.

United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York Damian Williams and Michael J. Driscoll, the assistant director in Charge of the New York Field Office of the FBI, announced the indictment charges brought up on Whitehead. 

During the announcement, Williams said, “As we allege today, Lamor Whitehead abused the trust placed in him by a parishioner, bullied a businessman for $5,000, then tried to defraud him of far more than that, and lied to federal agents. His campaign of fraud and deceit stops now.”

Whitehead now faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted.

Earlier this year, Pretty Ricky’s Baby Blue decided to spend his final night as a free man with those in his circle eating a feast. The artist was recently caught red-handed in a federal government PPP loan scam and is facing several years behind bars.
