Singer-songwriter and musician Amp Fiddler is requesting $75,000 in funds to support his continued recovery after having surgery in August.

Soul, R&B and funk artist Amp Fiddler is undergoing recovery after having surgery for an unknown condition in August. The Detroit artist, who is now recuperating from home after spending months in the hospital, is raising $75,000 on GoFundMe to “support his continued healing as he journeys back to the stage.” Fiddler’s brother, fellow artist Joseph Fiddler, created the GoFundMe page, noting that organizers decided to make a “one-time increase” to the initial goal, citing future medical expenses.

Many of Fiddler’s fans have rallied to support the Grammy-nominated artist, including those who shared pictures and memories of meet and greets with the artist on his GoFundMe. Known for his work with artists like Prince, George Clinton, Maxwell, Jamiroquai and more, Fiddler has released eight albums during his career so far, including his 1990 debut With Respect, 2004’s Waltz of a Ghetto Fly, 2006’s Afro Strut and 2016’s Motor City Booty. Last year, Fiddler released his latest project, Basementality, which featured Raphael Saddiq and Meshell Ndegeocello. An artist on Moodymann’s record label Mahogani Music, Fiddler has spoken on his musicial intentions throughout the years, including a feature on website Beautiful Humans.

“I believe that I’m here for a reason, to make changes, to help and heal people somewhat,” Fiddler said at the time. “Music soothes the soul and I believe that we as artists have an obligation to keep bringing music when the frequency and the vibration helps to take people to a different, higher frequency, level, love or whatever it is. I believe that’s my purpose to be here, to make people happy, to be a messenger. It’s my mission to keep writing and sending this positive loving message out there.”
